With 33.96 km², Penzing is Vienna's fourth largest municipal district. Stretched out over a long distance, the 14th Viennese municipal district is characterized, among other things, by its shares of the Vienna Woods or its border with the Vienna River and the province of Lower Austria, and today presents itself as an agglomeration of five former municipalities without disposing of a clear "district center". What kind of art can the public space of such a multifaceted district need in the city of the present, KÖR asked itself in a dialogue with the District Mayor and invited the interdisciplinary collective transparadiso to develop longer-term artistic perspectives for the district.

As a starting point, the following events will take place on three Saturdays in October (participation is free of charge):

Boris Sieverts/ Büro für Städtereisen explores the water in Penzing

The river Wien and the II. Wiener Hochquellenleitung run the full length of Penzing. Both are perceived more as structures than as bodies of water: the Hochquellenleitung in the form of its architecturally spectacular reservoir and the Wienfluss as a deep, walled shaft. The Büro für Städtereisen invites you to explore Penzing's waters, which dazzle through the architecture that conceals them.

"On the trail of the urban alter ego - Steinhof Atlas", Oct. 14., 2023 / 14:00 - 17:00
Workshop / Performance with Ursula Maria Probst

Based on the complex and contradictory history of the Steinhofgründe, curator and artist Ursula Maria Probst develops a performative choreography that gives voice to the architecture, into which memories and present activities are inscribed. A script of authentic, literary and fictional passages, forms the starting point for a polyphonic speaking choir. The participants can become contributors.

Saturday night in Penzing: A night walk with transparadiso along the S-Bahn and subway. A drawing crime novel

Following the dip in and out of the train and subway stations from Vienna Hadersdorf to Schönbrunn, we explore the night atmosphere of Penzing between walking, strolling and dérives. The darkness in the approaching new moon lets us deviate from the daily routine and focus our gazes. Never seen spaces open up. We begin to imagine film-like scenes and images that do not follow a linear plot and intuitively understand the city.
