Spatial Practices in Art and ArChitecture for Empathetic EXchange (SPACEX) is a transdisciplinary research action that utilises secondments between academic institutions and third sector organisations in order to scope and map European spatial practices. SPACEX aims to test, map, analyse, communicate and maximize the ways in which spatial practices in art, architecture and design instigate public exchange and promote empathetic ways of living together in urban space.
As introduction to "Practices" transparadiso will present their practice. Barbara Holub is the SPACEX institutional lead for the Academy of Applied Arts, Vienna (UNIVERSKU) as well as founding member of transparadiso. Paul Rajakovics is SPACEX institutional lead for transparadiso as well as its founding member with Barbara Holub.
The term PRACTICES evokes artistic practice but here we also mean it to refer other engagement with the infrastructural aspects of the public and urban space. We include but do not want to limit it to: Art as Place making, Mapping Practice-led Urban Thresholds for New Urban Subjects, Interrogating the Role Spatial Practices Play in Conflict Transformation, Activating Urban Spatial Relations: the Role of Practice in urban planning and policy-making
