„Bienvenue“ (French): means "welcome"
The BIENVENUE neon sign is located in the center of this new quarter as highly visible symbol of the social commitment that underpins the concept for "Quartier Bienvenue" which was conceived by transparadiso: For welcoming, for togetherness, for mutual exchange between residents of different backgrounds and their various cultures.
The philosopher Vilém Flusser emphasized: "Reality is different. The secret codes of homelands are not spun from conscious rules, but largely from unconscious habits. In order to be able to immigrate to a homeland, the homeless person must first consciously learn the secret codes and then forget them again. During immigration, a polemical dialog arises between the beautiful native and the ugly homeless." (Vilém Flusser, "On the Freedom of the Migrant", 1994).
In the Quartier Bienvenue, architecture not only shows itself as a committed urban structure and urban design, but also manifests the claim to have a social and societal impact for togetherness.
