Welcome: Klaus-Dieter Hartl (director, Marenzi Gallery)

In conversation with:

Jonatan Habib Engqvist (curator and author in the book, Stockholm)
Apolonija Šušteršič (artist, Oslo, Ljubljana)
The monography will be presented to the public for the first time in the frame of Barbara Holub's show at Marenzi Gallery (until Feb.25, 2023):
For thirty years Barbara Holub's socially and politically engaged art has linked urban development, social issues, and artistic interventions. As an accumulative process of participatory action, Holub's projects question the role of art in society, whether in the context of art itself, in urban public space, or in relation to corporations.
This monography offers a detailed view of Barbara Holub's extensive body of work as well as her projects with transparadiso at the interface of art, architecture, and urbanism, for which she coined the term "silent activism." Rather than directly propagating activism, Holub persistently creates performative situations for dialogic action with the aim of questioning norms and crossing boundaries.
"We take the different perspectives on the work literally: the artistic projects are 90 degrees to the text contributions, which divide the work into 7 chapters. A detailed index by Jane Rendell provides readers with an alternative entry point into her work." (Bueronardin)
