Conversation with Barbara Holub and Andreas Spiegl
Curated by: Christiane Erharter and Stefanie Reisinger
Artist Barbara Holub presents her monograph Silent Activism in conversation with cultural scientist Andreas Spiegl. The book provides an overview of Holub's extensive work and the projects realized with transparadiso at the interface of art, architecture and urbanism. She has coined the term "silent activism" for this. Instead of propagating activism in the direct sense, Holub persistently creates performative situations for dialogical action - with the aim of questioning norms and crossing boundaries.
Holub's socially and politically committed art practice has been linking urban developments, social issues and artistic interventions for thirty years. As an accumulative process of participatory action, her projects question the role of art in society, whether in the art context, in urban public space or in relation to companies.
